The Straw Bale House
Tucked into four wooded acres in New Paltz, NY, this straw bale home was originally built with sustainability and natural materials at its core. Our renovation focused on reimagining the first-floor entry by introducing custom wood paneling, limestone flooring, and tailored storage to create a warmer and more cohesive arrival. A softer palette on the walls and the introduction of limestone tile bring lightness and contrast, subtly tempering the richness of the existing wood ceilings and cabinetry so the spaces feel more balanced and connected. Working closely with the homeowners and their builder, we collaborated as a unified team to ensure each decision respected the home’s craftsmanship while refining its flow and function. The result is a space that feels warm, intentional, and quietly refined.
